A superb quality 19th Century rosewood and amboyna bonheur du jour, the canted top section having a brass gallery with two panel doors below opening to reveal a single fixed shelf inside and two small drawers below the doors, lovely quality ormolu mounts on the canted corners, ormolu beading running along the top of the frieze, boxwood and brass lines, lovely inlaid circular decoration at the corners of the doors, amboyna panels on the door fronts with shaped mouldings and lovely quality inlaid patterns at the centre, the two mahogany lined drawers having inlaid drawer fronts and original brass handles, the gently serpentine base with a shaped frieze drawer centred by Bacchus mask ormolu roundel enclosing interior with gilt tooled leather writing surface, supported on cabriole legs decorated with lovely quality ormolu mounts. Wonderful quality and in excellent condition Circa 1860.
