18th Century mahogany chest on chest / tallboy

18th Century mahogany chest on chest / tallboy, the moulded edge top above a selection of eight drawers, two short over six long graduated drawers, which are all oak lined and have original brass swan neck handles, at the centre there is a pull out baized lined brushing slide, the top section has fluted and canted corners, the chest standing on original ogee bracket feet. This piece was purchased from the Benacre hall auction so it has a good provenance. Benacre hall is a grade two listed country house and estate in Suffolk, the estate has been in the Gooch family since 1746, the family have lived a long and distinguished career, at one point William Gooch was LT governor of Virginia (in the American colonies). Circa 1770.
