19th Century mahogany serving table by Gillows of Lancaster
£12,500.00
19th Century serpentine shaped mahogany serving table by Gillows of Lancaster profusely carved all over with floral and foliate decoration, the shaped raised back having lovely decorative crisp carving above a gadroon-edge top with a single mahogany lined drawer stamped “GILLOW 17128” raised on twin lion monopod supports united by a gadroon-edge undertier, finishing on a shaped plinth base with a gadroon-edge.
This serving table was probably made in London by Gillows around 1885, both serving tables (see other serving table we have for sale) have consecutive numbers so made for the same person for a mansion or country house and quite possibly in the same dining room, both are of exceptional quality and must have been very expensive when made, the carving and workmanship are absolutely fantastic. Circa 1885.
